Exhibition - Samtkhse-Javakheti Museum
Museum: Samtskhe-Javakheti Museum
The renovated Samtskhe-Javakheti Museum opened in 2012. Archeological, historical, ethnographic, paleontological, numismatic, narrative, and architectural materials reflecting Meskheti historic events from ancient times to XX century are presented at Samtskhe-Javakheti History Museum.
Archeological and ethnographic materials present the rich history full of unsteady events of the people living in "Meskheti House".
Exhibition informs visitors about ancient landscapes and environment, metal production, pottery, cults and rituals, funeral traditions, initials of social hierarchy, paganism and christianity, middle century developed architecture and manufacturing, bibliophiles existing at Meskheti territory. Diverse Georgian, Ottoman, and European arms (weapons) reflect the histories of wars and fights that took place in Meskheti.
The exhibition presents Samtskhe-Javakheti's urban life, where diverse ethnic and religious artisans, merchants, writers, scientists, travelers, interpreters, artists, embroideresses, knitters, tailors, house-painters, porters create Meskheti's multicultural society.
