Georgian National Museum, in the frame of the project "Avant-garde 1900-1937", will host the scientific conference "The Idea of Avant-garde in Literature and Fine Arts". The conference will take place on June 23-25, 2016.

Avant-garde, as the new wave on the road of cultural evolution, is the era of art innovations, creations of new artistic theories and conceptions. It is focused on the negation of traditional art and extremely subjective artistic thinking. Aesthetic circuits that were formed during epochs were changed by the new visual and verbal systems.

One of the masterminds of the idea and concept of the Avant-garde was Georgian poet and writer of Polish origin Ilia Zdanevich (Iliazd 1894-1975).  The conference is dedicated to the memory of this notable person. On sessions of the conference Georgian and foreign scientists will discuss the specific features of Avant-garde literature and fine art and the results of the artistic researches.

The program will last for 3 days and will include academic sessions and dialogue-discussions.

During the conference will be arranged master classes for students, young artists, writers and regional institutions.
