The Exhibition “I See With My Fingers"

Georgian National Museum and art center "Foliant" invite you to the exhibition "I See with My Fingers" at Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia. The opening event will take place on June 12, 2016 at 6 pm.

The exhibition will showcase artworks by the professors and students from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, students and their teachers from a variety of creative and educational institutions. Most of the artworks are created on topic of the Poem "The Knight in the Panther's Skin" and are dedicated to the 850 anniversary of Shota Rustaveli.

Among the objects are signified ones made by children and adolescents with eye disorders. These objects are felt with light, motion, sound effects, touching and physical involvement, a certain play and theatrical effects.

After harmoniously combined theoretical and practical creative process the new environment for collaborative art projects was established. Forms and contexts of the installations can be read with consideration of visual and sensory perceptions of people with eye disorders. In these works has changed the perception of viewers as well as the artist's approaches to the creation process.

The exhibition will also showcase ceramic vessels and bronze axes from the Late Bronze Age, preserved at Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia; The easel of the Georgian National Artist - Rusudan Javrishvili (1918-1999) ; For the first time in Georgia, for those who "see with their fingers" the exhibition presents wine labels produced by the local traditional winemaking, written in Braille and artworks made by dentistry center "Albius".

The project is curated by the artist Ketevan Matabeli. Co-organizers are: Apolon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, students from The Public School for Blind Children №202, students from Elene Akhvlediani Gallery studio and Dimitri Shevardnadze National Gallery art studio.

The project is supported by Tbilisi City Hall, Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, The advertising company "Mosaic Holding", LTD "Bene".

The exhibition "I See with my Fingers" will last until July 1, 2016.
