Latvian National Costume Exhibition
Georgian National Museum S. Janashia Georgian Museum will host Latvian National Costume exhibition from November 27, 2012.
The exhibition is dedicated to the independence day of Latvia. Adults and children costumes from 10 to 19 century will be presented at the exhibition.
National Costumes are integral part of Latvian heritage. The ones that have survived up to the present are the costumes worn on festive occasions. They have been handed down from generation to generation. Ordinary garments have been less well preserved. The development of the national costumes reflects the history of the nation from the first A.D. C. till the 19th century.
From 1992 up to present Latvian National Costumes have been exhibited in the U.S., Norway, Geneva, Denmark, Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Austria, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus exhibition halls.
The organizers of the exhibition are Georgian National Museum, Embassy of Latvian Republic in Georgia and Latvian nation garment center "Sena Klets".
The exhibition will last untill December 16.
Venue: Simon Janashia Georgian National Museum, 3 Rustaveli Avenue.
