Museum

One of the first words crossing my mind when thinking about a collective term that could refer to the way the universe works is "connections". Occurrences that took place several centuries or even billion years ago defined our present and will continue to influence our future. This is a reason that we as humans should be curious about every detail that might bear information about our past. Connections are different and they are all around; they co-exist and form out everyday life.

The Fan

The article concerns one of the elements of woman's decoration - the fan. General reasons of its creation, different stages of its development and the basic centers of fan production from the very beginning to present is discussed. The detailed description of the European and Eastern fans of various forms stored in the collections of the Museum is given, the owner references for the majority of fans and photos are attached. Traditional Ways of Carpentry and Museum Restoration-Conservation Practice

This book represents the second, renewed edition of the manual published in 2012 within the frames of a joint project between the Georgian National Museum and Riksantikvaren - the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage. The project initially started as a project between GNM and UNESCO and was from the very beginning funded by the Norwegian government. From the Norwegian side, Maihaugen open air museum and its subsidiary, the Norwegian Craft Institute, have been most active in the implementation of this project.

Monuments of mettalurgical industry exposed by archaeological excavations on the territory of Georgia and studied by complex methods have been considered which are associated with the multicentury chronicle of forefathers of Georgians, Tubal Kains, „hammer smiths, iron and bronze  farriers", which preserve  traces of their creative work till now.
