The Albertina Museum in Vienna hosts the exhibition of Niko Pirosmanashvili

Niko Pirosmanashvili’s artworks from Georgian National Museum collection will be displayed at Albertina Museum in Vienna.

"NIKO PIROSMANI - A Wonderer Between Worlds" - The exhibition of Niko Pirosmanashvili will be hosted by Vienna Albertina Museum from 26 October 2018 to January 27, 2019. The exhibition will feature 29 paintings from the collection of Georgian National Museum Shalva Amiranashvili Museum of Fine Arts. The handbook (Paris, 1972) titled "Pirosmaniashvili 1914" made by Ilia Zdanevich will be presented as well. The book contains the engraving portrait of Pirosmani by Pablo Picasso. 

Within the framework of the project, the specially designed table dedicated to the memory of Pirosmaniashvili will be exposed for the first time. This table was created by famous Japanese architect Tadao Ando in a memory of 100 years after Pirosmanashvili's death.  

It is noteworthy that within the exhibition, contemporary art space of Albertina Museum features homage works that are inspired with Pirosmani’s paintings and created by modern artists such as Adrian Ghenie, Georg Baselitz, Yoshimoto Nara and Andro Vekua. 

The main objective of the exhibition is to introduce the artist's works and Georgian cultural heritage to the wide audience.

Niko Pirosmanashvili's exhibition in Vienna is organized by Albertina Museum in a partnership with the Infinitart Foundation and Georgian National Museum. The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia. The project partner is Julius Bar, TS Foundation, Lady Angela Nevill. The sponsor of the exhibition is the Bank of Georgia.
