Museum Week: The Exhibition “Georgian Alphabet” by Niaz Diasamidze

Date: 16 May 2017 – 27 May 2017

Museum: Tbilisi History Museum

Georgian National Museum Tbilisi History Museum, in the frames of Georgian National Museum Week dedicated to the International Museum Day, invites you to the exhibition "Georgian Alphabet" by Niaz Diasamidze. The opening event will take place on May 16, at 6 pm.

"Georgian Alphabet" is a project by Niaz Diasamidze, which represents improvised paintings created on the topic of Georgian letters.

The author focuses on the alphabet, which has its own laws. We are studying the alphabet in accordance with these laws. The standards have been developed during the centuries but at the same time the alphabet, just as language, is alive and free.

In Niaz Diasamidze's Artworks, the alphabet is an abstract figure that has become a symbol of emotional sounds. According to the author, each letter has its own history, strengths and weaknesses and it may have completely contrasting meaning in different words.

The project represents the cultural heritage and contemporary Georgian art in one exposition, which is an interesting attempt to see the conceptual view of tradition and modernity.

The exhibition will last until May 28, 2017.

Address: Tbilisi History Museum (Karvasla), 8 Sioni Str. Tbilisi, Georgia.
