William Osgood Field

Georgian National Museum together with the American Embassy in Georgia, "X-Form" and Irakli Iakobashvili present the exhibition "Georgia in 1929-1933 years" by an American glaciologist William Osgood Field. Opening event will take place on 30th of January 2009.

William Osgood Field is a founder of glaciology in North America. He was born in New York on 30th of January 1904. William graduated from Harvard University the faculty of Geology.

While travelling, he was taking pictures to depict landscapes and people.

In order to study glacier of Svaneti he visited Georgia several times.

The exhibition will showcase pictures and films made by William Osgood Field.
