Public Lecture by Luca Pandolfi "Fossil Rhinocerotidae from Eurasia"

05 September 2019

On September 8, at 15:00, Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia will host a public lecture "Fossil Rhinocerotidae from Eurasia" by Dr. of the University of Florence - Luca Pandolfi.

The family Rhinocerotidae includes several species, currently distributed in limited areas of Southeastern Asia and Africa. Fossil rhinoceroses were an important element of the past ecosystems. Rhinoceroses are very useful for paleogeographic reconstructions and chronological correlations, but also for past-climate reconstructions. The diversity and distribution of Rhinocerotidae decreased during the Neogene and the Quaternary (20-0.01 Ma) and are still decreasing.

Alongside with the lecture, the audience will be able to see the exhibition "Ivrispireti 8-10 million years".

The project is supported by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.

Address: Simon Janashia Museum of Georgia, 3 Shota Rustaveli Ave. Tbilisi, Georgia

Attendance is free of charge!
