World Migratory Bird Day 2018

The miracle of bird migration is celebrated worldwide on the second weekend in October. Due to this important date, Georgian National Museum, in cooperation with National Geographic Georgia MagazineTbilisi Zoo and SABUKO - BirdLife partner in Georgia, invites you to participate in this event. 

Georgia is situated along the main migration corridors. One of the most important migration routes on this planet, connecting the enormous landmasses of Asia and Africa, runs straight through the Caucasus.


Friday, 12 October

A pedagogical program is offered for schools and eco-clubs.

Saturday, 13 October

Visit the exhibition "Caucasus Biodiversity" where you can check your knowledge about migratory birds in a quiz or make 

  • 13:00 - Film screening at the museum library:

       Winged Migration is a 2001 documentary film showcasing the immense journeys routinely made by birds during their migrations.

  • 15:00 - Public Lecture at the museum library:

       "Birds without Borders - flyways, perspectives and threats" by Natia Javakhishvili, director of Georgia's bird conservation organization.

Sunday, 14. October

Pick up the quiz about migratory birds, which are kept at the Tbilisi Zoo. Birds, that occurs in the nature of Georgia as well.

Take up the game and experience the challenge of migration birds are facing on their journey.
