The Closing Event of “Museumsinsel Berlin – Museum District Tbilisi. Keeping the Past – Facing the Future” Exhibition

The Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi Goethe Institut and The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (Preuβischer Kulturbesitz) invites you to the closing event of "Museumsinsel Berlin - Museum District Tbilisi. Keeping the Past - Facing the Future" exhibition.

In 2010-2012, the Georgian National Museum and the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin in the framework of the EU Twinning cooperation implemented the institutional development project for the Georgian National Museum. One of the important components of the project was to support development of Tbilisi Museum District.

From September 19th to September 22nd, 2012, the international conference "Why museums now? Keeping the Past - Facing the Future" and the exhibition "Museumsinsel Berlin - Museum District Tbilisi. Keeping the Past - Facing the Future" were initiated by Goethe Institut in cooperation with Georgian National Museum and The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin (Preuβischer Kulturbesitz).

Starting from 2013 Goethe Institut, Georgian National Museum and the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are planning to implement various activities that will support professional development of the specialists; raise social awareness; stimulate cooperation and discussion between public, private and cultural sectors related to the museums and their role in urban and social- economic development.
